Available Clinical Education Opportunities

Please note:
Clinical education placements are not available in the following areas:

  • Emergency Room (ER)
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Types of Placements

Clinical Rotation (Hands-On Experience)

Clinical Rotations are practical, supervised experiences that may include:

  • Patient interaction under supervision
  • Collaboration with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff
  • Exposure to hospital workflows, clinical decision-making, and professional conduct

These placements are designed to enhance clinical confidence and real-world understanding of hospital practice.

Clinical Observerships (Observation-Based Learning)

Observerships provide structured opportunities to:

  • Observe clinical practice within a specified specialty
  • Gain insight into diagnostic, treatment, and care coordination processes
  • Understand healthcare delivery in a tertiary hospital setting

Observerships do not involve direct patient contact, independent clinical duties, or clinical decision-making. Participants are supervised at all times.

Important Notes

  • All Clinical Rotations and Observerships are unpaid
  • Placements are subject to institutional approval, capacity, and scheduling
  • Participants must comply with SLBMC policies, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements
