Institutional Review Board Application Instructions

  • Submission Method: Submit completed applications (Sections found on Pages 6–8) electronically to irb@msjmc.org.
  • Core Documents: All relevant core documents must be submitted along with the application form. For guidance, please refer to our Case Report Submission Guidance Document.
  • Language: The application form and all core documents must be submitted in English.
  • Timeline: Submit proposals prior to participant recruitment, data collection, or human specimen collection. (Failure to comply carries administrative consequences).
  • Pilot Studies: Approval must be sought before conducting any pilot studies.
  • Supplementary Information: Changes or requested info must be submitted within two weeks of review request. Extensions require a formal written request with justification to the Chairperson.
  • Protocol Modifications: Changes to approved research protocols must be submitted for university/hospital and IRB approval.
  • Review Process: Proposals are acknowledged within 3 working days. The IRB meets the first Friday of each month, and decisions are emailed to applicants and management.
