Staging describes where the cancer is and how it behaves using the TNM system:
T (Tumor): Size and primary location.
N (Nodes): Spread to nearby lymph nodes.
M (Metastasis): Spread to other body parts.
*Stages range from 1 to 4; lower numbers typically mean an earlier stage.
We develop a plan that respects your medical history, physical tolerance, and personal preferences.
Surgery: To remove tumors or assist in staging.
Chemotherapy: Medicines to stop cancer cells from dividing.
Hormone Therapy: Blocking hormones that fuel growth.
Immunotherapy: Empowering your immune system to attack cancer.
Targeted Therapy: Attacking specific genes while protecting healthy cells.
Confidence is vital. We encourage second opinions to ensure you feel 100% at peace with your path forward.
Note: SLBMC does not currently offer radiation therapy on-site. Most patients requiring radiotherapy are referred to our international partner, Clinica Imbanaco in Cali, Colombia.
Once your oncologist determines radiation is necessary, a recommendation is submitted to the Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) and Ministry of Health for coordination.
Clinica Imbanaco provides dedicated translators and international coordinators to ensure you feel comfortable and understood throughout your stay.
Moving your care abroad is a big step. Use this list to prepare for your journey to Colombia.
